Join The Jaxson on Sunday, October 25 for a tour of one of Jacksonville's most historic spaces: Evergreen Cemetery.
Evergreen Cemetery walking tour
Our last tour of Evergreen Cemetery was so popular that we’re doing it again! Join The Jaxson for a guided walking tour at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, October 25.
It’s been said that a city’s history is written on its tombstones, and nowhere is this truer than at Evergreen, Jacksonville’s oldest cemetery that’s still in use and one of our most historic spaces Jaxson co-owners Bill Delaney and Ennis Davis will cover underrepresented history and visit the graves of many of Jacksonville’s most interesting figures, including eccentric slave-raiding founder Isaiah D. Hart, writer and brothel owner Cora Crane, survivors of the Titanic, and more. Hear Jacksonville history as only The Jaxson can tell it.
Cora Crane, writer, brothel owner, and wife of author Stephen Crane, is one of the dozens of important figures buried at Evergreen Cemetery.
Criminal slave raider turned real estate magnate Isaiah D. Hart founded Jacksonville in 1822. He’s buried at Evergreen Cemetery.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased through Eventbrite here for the 11 a.m. tour and here for the 1:30 p.m. tour (kids 12 and under are free). NOTE: The 11 a.m. tour is sold out, but tickets are available for the 1:30 p.m. tour. Please wear a mask. For any questions, contact Bill Delaney at email@example.com.
