A quick run down of Florida's existing bike share programs and a look at what's coming in 2017.

SkyBike WPB West Palm Beach

Swan City Cycles Lakeland

Number of Hubs: 7 Number of Bicycles: 35 Year Established: December 2015

The program is made possible by sponsorship from the City of Lakeland’s Community Redevelopment Authority, Lakeland Downtown Development Authority, as well as: Lakeland Vision, Citrus Connection, Polk Museum of Art, Lake Morton Neighborhood Association, First United Methodist and Florida Southern College.

SGA Bike Share University of Central Florida - Orlando

Number of Hubs: 3 Number of Bicycles: N/A Year Established: 2014

The SGA Bike Share is open to all students with a valid UCF Card. There is no rental fee to rent a bicycle, lock, helmet, and light for one work day.

In addition, some college and universities features non traditional bike share programs, allowing students to rent bicycles on-campus by the semester. Examples include Florida State University’s FSU ReCycle and University of Florida’s Gator Gears.

Cocoa Beach Bike Share Cocoa Beach

Number of Hubs: 10 Number of Bicycles: 50 Year Proposed: 2017

Initial plans call for Brevard County’s Transit One Council for Transit Advocacy and the Space Coast Office of Tourism to work with Zagster to launch a pilot program in 2017. The $110,000 start up is being funded with money raised from the county’s 5 percent Tourist Development Tax on hotel rooms and other short-term rentals.
