Nine Restaurants Opening in Murray Hill

March 26, 2017

Edgewood Avenue South is well on its way to becoming urban Jacksonville's next "restaurant row". Here's a look at nine new restaurants and bars coming to this up and coming Murray Hill commercial strip.

4. The Annex, Jeux De Jax & The Silver Crow

Veteran King Street entrepreneur Regina Heffington is in the process of moving The Annex from King Street to 929 Edgewood Avenue South. The Annex is a casual craft beer and wine bar that also offers a lunch, dinner and late night breakfast menu. The new 1,200-square-foot Murray Hill location is anticipated to open in winter 2017.

Adjacent to The Annex will be the Jeux De Jax Comedy & Arts Café at 927 Edgewood Avenue South. The name Jeux De Jax is roughly translated in French as ‘Games of Jax’. The French name is a nod to one of the great cultural centers of the world, but also as an appreciation for Jacksonville's French roots. The thematic concept revolves around historical gathering places/coffee shops during the Renaissance, which became the center of cultural discourse bringing a wide range of imaginative and creative people together in one space to exchange ideas.

Like King Street’s version of The Annex, Jeux De Jax will offer patrons a full range of board games, card games and table games. In addition to a slew of interactive games, Jeux De Jax will serve as a performance venue for poets, writers, painters, comedians, improve troupes and musicians in its 1,400-square-foot space.

In addition, The Silver Crow is in the process of relocating from King Street, to a 1,000-square-foot space at 931 Edgewood Avenue South.  When it opens in a few months, it will serve as a store during the day with package beer, books and gifts, a then transition to a bar with a cigar room at night.
