Hightide Burrito Co Opening 2nd Location

September 5, 2017

Local entrepreneur opening 2nd location of popular eatery to boost dinner sales and serve booming Avondale and Ortega neighborhoods.

Alejandro Juarez opened Hightide Burrito Co nearly a decade ago, serving fresh a menu featuring 'Beach Mexican' fare. After the success of the first outpost in the San Marco neighborhood, Juarez is now opening a second location adjacent to The Loop at the new development named The Bridge at the foot of the Ortega River Bridge.

The Ortega River is the recreational boating center of Northeast Florida. Along Lake Shore Boulevard and Lakeside Drive are several marinas, boat repair shops, yacht sales and similar marine oriented businesses forming a unique waterfront environment in urban Jacksonville which is known as "Marina Mile." It's also home to a pretty interesting adaptive reuse project known as The Bridge. Designed by Office of Architecture (OAD), The Bridge is a transformation of the old Pier 17 building at 4619 Roosevelt Blvd, into a mix of retail and restaurant spaces, adding new flavor to the Marina Mile scene.

Hightide Burrito Co describes itself as a relaxed restaurant serving authentic Mexican recipes combined with the vibe and flavors of Florida to create an original menu that offers delicious food. Here, fresh food, surf culture and a respect for community come together, creating a welcoming and environmentally-responsible establishment.

Construction is expected to start by the end of 2017 with an expected opening date in the 2nd quarter of 2018. When open, Hightide Burrito Company will join The Loop, Chamblins Bookmine and a variety of maritime retailers in a unique setting along a working waterfront, reminiscent of Seattle's Ballard neighborhood.
